Weekly Round Up

There’s a fair bit of movement amongst the upper rankings this week. It’s not something that historically we’re used to in Oceania where there isn’t a clear top four teams. Right now any of the top teams can beat each other, so expect the shifting to be commonplace for the near future. In other news, Pale Horse eSports add themselves to a short list of teams that will have gone to a major LAN event. They’ll be going up against JAM Gaming, The Other Team and Billy Fan Club at the ESL AU&NZ Championship Finals, and could very well be the dark horse of the event.

Rankings

1 - JAM Gaming

MontyConnor, Express, shadey | Nil movement

JAM are still looking good, very good. The only concern for them this week was during the ESL AU&NZ Champs S2 Live Finals Qualifier against Billy Fan Club. JAM took the first game of the Bo5 out 2-0 and then craziness ensued in the next 3 going down 2-7, 0-7, 0-3. JAM still qualified for LAN beating out Legacy in a close 3-1 last chance match and had a comfortable 3-0 win over Pale Horse in Throwdown. JAM are still the team to beat in the region right now but The Other Team and Billy Fan Club will be making strong cases to overthrow JAM moving into the next few weeks. JAM have the top spot, but it's a lot closer to 2nd and 3rd than previous weeks. - Tibore

2 - The Other Team

Cyrix, ellusive, Siki, Requiem | + 2

A monumental string of performances puts them the highest on the rankings that this lineup has ever been. The Other Team made it all the way through this week without dropping a single game. For the LAN warrior Cyrix though it will seem like the status quo, making yet another LAN final; joining offline veterans JAM Gaming and Billy Fan club, as well as new live challengers Pale Horse eSports. If they manage to maintain this momentum they could take the top spot by next week. - n0lsk1

3 - Billy Fan Club

Drippay, Torsos, Jake, ENiGMA | + 2

The Billy Fan Club boys have finally managed to redeem themselves, taking their spot at the ESL LAN and guaranteeing themselves qualification for the Mock-it Championship Series. With strong performances against both Pale Horse and JAM Gaming in the ESL Qualifier, but a sad 0-2 loss to The Other Team in the Mock-it qualifier, they still haven’t forced their way back into the top 2. Considering recent performances though, they should be happy with 3rd and assuming results go in their favour over the next few weeks, they can easily get back to the top. - Nutterres

4 - Pale Horse eSports

Kamii, Kia, CJCJ, Julz, xkorez | + 1

Pale Horse have done their new organization proud, instantly qualifying for the ESL LAN & the Mock-it Championship Series in style. A hard 0-3 loss to Billy Fan Club was the only poor result from these boys and is possibly the only reason they sit below them on the rankings this week. For each of these individual players this will be one of the highest positions they’ve held in the Power Rankings at any point in time, but it’s definitely something for them to be pleased with. Hopefully we see some strong performances from Pale Horse in both Mock-it and at the LAN but until then 4th spot remains theirs. - Nutterres

5 - Legacy eSports

Soma, Plitz, ZeN | - 3

Legacy had a stunning week last week, but sadly come into this with some poor performances resulting in a drop to 5th place. A failure to qualify for the ESL LAN shows a few shortcomings for this recent Legacy squad and makes it almost a first for a Legacy team not to make it to LAN. For the time being they can be happy with good results over Pale Horse and Skyfire, but still need to find some team synergy and quality to start challenging Billy Fan Club and Scylla. Hopefully we’ll see this soon, but with no immediate LAN in sight, maybe Legacy can find their time online to shine. - Nutterres

6 - Scylla Esports

Dumbo, aoe_emp, SnarfSnarf, Daisu | - 3

A very shaky week for the Scylla Esports team. Dumbo had been away on holidays for quite some time and returned home at the start of a very important week. It looked promising since they would finally be able to get back to their full rostered lineup but the question of rust loomed. The answer unfortunately for Scylla was rust. They lost both their games 1-3 in Throwdown League play, they just scraped through into the Mockit Championship Series League Play, and missed out on a spot at the ESL AU&NZ Champs S2 Live Finals. All after being promoted up to 3rd on the power rankings the week before. A tough week for Scylla but they are strong and experienced enough to fight their way back into form quickly. - Tibore

7 - Team Skyfire

Addzey, CJM, ORION | Nil movement

Team Skyfire still sit carefully in 7th spot, despite a few rather poor performances. Given the fact they failed to qualify for both the Mock-it Championship Series and the ESL AUNZ Champs LAN, they are extremely lucky to still be in the top 7 as they really haven’t performed well. With losses to The Moist Kites, Scylla Esports, The Other Team and Legacy, they really need some improvements to impress their organisation. Hopefully they pull something out over the next few weeks but they currently have no real competitions to play for. - Nutterres

8 - Feint

Flawe, Myst, Tulendeena, Erit | Nil movement

Feint are a team with players used to the top 10, but not often able to stick it at the higher levels. Qualifying for the Mock-it Championship Series will sure be a highlight for them as they’ll be facing off against all of the region’s top names, with the exception of Team Skyfire. Having made the invitational qualifier for ESL, they sadly crashed out with two 0-3 hammerings courtesy of JAM and Pale Horse, who both managed to make it through. A few good results and solid work ethics can get these boys further up the rankings, but I’m still not sure if they’ll ever be a top 6 team. - Nutterres

9 - Conspiracy ESC

Slurpee, Hectic, WallcottsPace, Triggsy | Nil movement

Maintaining their position this week is Conspiracy ESC with a series of predictable results. Predictable is good for Slurpee’s team however as it’s landed them in the MCS league play, their first league since CyberGamer’s CGm. Being in a league with some of Oceania’s strongest teams will give them the opportunity to gain some valuable experience, especially for surprise package WallcottsPace. It might be the catalyst that could elevate both his and his team’s gameplay, as well as their ranking. - n0lsk1

10 - The Moist Kites

Spiral, Curto, Seniaz, Decka | + 1

Formerly “Deus Inferos”, The Moist Kites are back into the 10. Only one PR tournament played this week by TMK, but just enough done to take 10th spot off of the Leftovers who didn’t play this week. TMK beat Team Skyfire in the Mockit Championship Series Qualifiers but then after a 0-2 to JAM Gaming had to fight Feint for the spot; just missing out with a 1-2. This team has been showing a lot of consistency in who they are beating and losing to in terms of power rankings and are now challenging those above them. TMK are a team that can potentially rise up a few spots with a breakout week. - Tibore

Teams to watch:

Nutterres: Scylla Esports

Tibore: The Other Team

yumi_cheeseman: Scylla Esports

n0lsk1: Billy Fan Club
